Prohibited & Restricted Items

You may not list, sell, or attempt to sell any of the following:

• Stolen, lost, or fraudulently obtained devices, or any device subject to an investigation, lien, or third-party ownership claim.
• Blacklisted devices (reported lost/stolen or barred from carrier networks), and any attempt to bypass, spoof, or defeat our IMEI blacklist screening.
• Devices with an altered, cloned, or falsified IMEI or serial number, or with tampered identifiers.
• Counterfeit devices, or devices with counterfeit parts represented as genuine.
• Devices you do not own or are not authorized to sell.
• Devices under an unpaid carrier installment plan, lease, or financing agreement — including a device you are still paying off. These pass a blacklist check today and get barred the moment payments stop, leaving the buyer with a brick and you with a dispute you will lose.
• Devices still holding another person’s personal data or logged in to another person’s account. Wipe and remove all personal data and account associations before listing.
• Anything whose sale is illegal where you or the buyer are located, and anything other than mobile devices and directly related components — no weapons, drugs, or other regulated or illegal goods.

These are exactly the stock Honest Phones is built for — but only when their condition and status are declared accurately in the structured disclosure. Selling one while hiding or misstating its status is a violation:

• Bad ESN / carrier-blacklisted for non-payment (as distinct from reported stolen): may be sold only if clearly disclosed as such.
• Activation-locked (iCloud / Google) devices: must be disclosed as locked and are sold for parts unless the lock is genuinely removed. Never represent a locked device as ready to use.
• Carrier-locked devices: lock status must be disclosed.
• Cracked, water-damaged, no-power, boot-looping, or parts-only devices: welcome — disclosed through the condition fields and known-fault checklist, not buried in prose.
• Devices with non-original / aftermarket parts: the aftermarket parts must be disclosed.

The whole marketplace depends on this: an accurately disclosed device — however damaged or locked — is welcome and its seller is protected in a dispute. A device whose faults, locks, or provenance are hidden is a violation, and its seller is not protected. The grade is derived from the disclosed fields precisely so it cannot be inflated past what those fields support.

We screen IMEIs before publishing and review listings, but enforcement also depends on accurate disclosure and on reports. Violations may result in removal of the listing, reversal or withholding of payment, account suspension or termination, forfeiture of the sale, and referral to carriers, manufacturers, or law enforcement.

Reporting a device or a listing. Email contact@honestphones.com with the listing URL and, if you are reporting a stolen device, the IMEI and the police report number if you have one. We act on credible reports quickly, and we will preserve the listing record, the seller’s account details, and the transaction history for law enforcement even after the listing comes down. If you are the lawful owner of a device sold here, contact us — the escrow model means funds are often still recoverable.
