Sell a phone for parts
A phone that won’t turn on, isn’t worth repairing or is activation locked still has value. Screens, housings, cameras and boards get reused by repair shops and people who fix phones. Here’s what a parts phone is worth and how to sell one.

What parts phones sell for
Parts only means it won’t power on, isn’t worth repairing, or is activation locked. If it works or can be repaired, it sells at the higher damaged price. Ranges are this week’s, from the price guide.

What buyers are paying for
A parts buyer is after the pieces that still work: usually the screen, the frame and back, the cameras, the speakers and the battery. A phone with an intact screen is worth noticeably more for parts than one with the screen smashed too, so say which parts look undamaged.
Is it really parts only?
Check before you price it. A phone that powers on and can be repaired sells as damaged, for more. A dead battery can make a working phone look dead, so leave it on a charger for an hour first. And if it’s locked to your own account, signing out turns a parts phone into a working one.
Keep it in one piece
Sell the phone whole rather than taking it apart yourself. Buyers want to check each part in the phone, and parts pulled by hand are easily damaged.

How to sell it
01Sign out of your account first
If it turns on, back it up, sign out of your Apple Account or Google account and erase it. If it doesn’t, remove it from your account online: on iCloud.com under Find Devices, or under Security in your Google account. A phone still tied to your account can only sell for parts.
02Charge it for an hour
A flat battery is the most common reason a working phone seems dead. If it turns on, it may sell as damaged instead.
03Photograph every side
Front, back, edges and cameras, in good light. Buyers price parts phones by what looks intact.
04Have the IMEI ready
Dial *#06#, or read it from the SIM tray or the box. It’s checked privately before your listing goes live and never shown to buyers, so keep it out of your photos.

Sell it on Honest Phones
Any condition, 3% seller fee, no listing fees. Every IMEI is checked before a listing goes live, and the buyer's payment is held until they accept the phone.
Common questions
What is a phone for parts worth?
It depends on the model and which parts are intact. The price guide shows this week’s parts-only range for every model; newer flagships are worth the most.
Can I sell a phone that won’t turn on?
Yes, as parts only. Charge it for an hour first: if it turns on and can be repaired, it sells as damaged for more.
Should I take the phone apart and sell the parts separately?
Usually not. Buyers want to test parts in the phone, and parts pulled by hand are easily damaged. Sell it whole.
Can I sell a stolen or blacklisted phone for parts?
No. Every IMEI is checked before a listing goes live, and phones reported lost, stolen or blacklisted are turned down, parts or not.
